"The first album of this project “Toada ao Surdo” hits the market this year. Ten original tracks composed by the artist himself, with production assistance from Academia da Berlinda’s very own, Gabriel Melo. When asked about his musical production process, Marquinhos C. states, “In general, it is a process of letting go and sharing how I see life and my experiences…I am inspired by both tangible moments and the mysterious that require musical interpretation in order to fully comprehend”. The song, “For the Time I Won’t be Here (Louis ’Song)” for example, was composed for his son and reflects on loss, legacy, and love for family. It is this thoughtful creative process that also has resulted in the song, GAP (Toada ao surdo) which is a deeply personal interpretation of the loss, isolation, and nostalgic moments, part of it resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic."
